A sweep of solid oakwood up
Like whiplash; the charge
Of a hawk or other bird-
Streak in a lack of sky
At the nightly tree blackest
Drapery, the lure of the blue light
Around, an iris surfaces
Like a window to? Is this bird
Diving blind into the forefront
Or pulling up the utter stem?
Cast in apparent flight-
Every other odd night
I can’t tell where I am
But beyond a rained-out window.
